Flat Back Earring Tips & Tricks

Threadless flat back stud earrings are held together by tension, no threading (screwing) required. The earrings are simple to put on and take off if you understand how these earrings work. We put together this guide to show you how!

Putting on and removing your flat back earrings

  1. Insert the “flat back” of the earring first through the back side of your piercing
  2. Push decorative part of earring fully into the flat back tube. The slight bend creates tension and keeps the 2 parts together
  3. To remove, simply pull the 2 pieces apart. If it doesn’t come out easily, try a slight twist and pull

Check your flat back earrings before wearing them.
Follow these steps if the become loose:

  1. Insert the "pin" of the decorative side of the earring about 1/3 into the flat back "tube"
  2. Slightly bend the pin with light pressure. Please note, we pre-bend before we ship, but you may have to bend them again if they become loose after normal wear.
  3. Push the pin all the way into the tube and check to make sure it feels secure. If it’s too tight, slighly bend the pin back in the opposite direction.
*Please note, 14k gold is considered a "soft" metal and may need to be "bent" again to create tension for a secure fit after normal wear. However, titanium is a "hard" metal, and therefore will most likely not need bending as it keeps its "bent" shape consistently, even after normal wear.  So please note, that if the "pin" is slightly bent, you will not need to bend it more, as it can cause breakage.
